From 31 Jan 2007 to 28 Feb 2007

Above two photos were taken on Feb 2007 with her 1st mission companion Megan Cutler. See their reunion years later in a post-development section at the bottom of this journal.

Last day at the MTC.... on my way to Oakland. I wanted to take a picture with President and Sister Boone, but Sis Boone was not in... so I took a picture with just President Boone. President Boone is the  MTC President now. It made my MTC experience feel a little more like home. (Pres Boone and his wife used to speak at our youth conferences and seminary graduations whey they were Singapore Mission President)

Visit to the Sikh Temple

Our Chinese missionaries visited the Sikh Temple and learned a bit about their sacred book of scripture placed on this decorated altar that I took a picture in front of.  We had to cover our hair with scarf to go inside the "Temple" (Just a normal building like a school's tiny assembly hall building)

Here is a picture of my companions, Sister Hsiao, Sister Scholl and Me

A Punjabi man was our "tour guide" and he demonstrated how to play those cool drums. Elder Liu who has never left China until he came on a mission was very fascinated and tried to play the drums too!

Shan was my first baptism. She came in to the Visitors' Center when Sister Daniels and I were on tour. She decided after that evening to take the missionary lessons from Sister Daniels and I. We started teaching her and then I was transferred to another area. Kang was baptized about a month to a month and a half after we started teaching her. So I got to attend her baptism. (Left to Right : Me, Shan, Sis Daniels(I trained her), Sis Leung)  Shan is originally from Guang Dong Mainland China. She moved to San Francisco about 7 years ago. Her non-member mother and older brother attended her baptism.

Our car got egged! On the way to the Temple.

Elder Pedersen(Director of the visitors' center) was so kind. He washed off the stinky egg for us!
(Left to Right: Sis Hsiao, Elder Pedersen, Sis Scholl) Sis Scholl was my trainer.

We went roller skating on P or Preparation Day as a roommate activity! The young boy that took our picture for us forgot to include our feet in the picture. We had our skates on!
(Left to Right: Me, Sis Hsiao, Sis Gilliatt, Sis Khanakham(my Thai companion who became my roommate on 17 Aug 2007)

...so since our group picture did not have skates in them, I had my companion, Sis Khanakham to take a picture of me showing off the skates!

She completed her 18th months' mission successfully with a homecoming event in Singapore on 18 July 2008.

Post-development events:

Photo shared to Shuan in an email letter dated 5 Sep 2016 to him in his London Mission with her writings as follows :

We are in Taiwan right now and spending time with family and friends.
Yesterday at church in Taipei, I ran into my MTC companion, Sister Megan Cutler! She's visiting Taiwan with her little family for a month!
What a tender mercy to reunite with an old friend that I haven't seen for years! We were companions back in January 2007 - almost 10 years ago!

Photo taken on September 4, 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan:

This experience made me feel like Alma the younger when he ran into the sons of Mosiah after not seeing them for 14 years!

Alma 17:1-2
1 - And now it came to pass that as Alma was journeying from the land of Gideon southward, away to the land of Manti, behold, to his astonishment, he met with the sons of Mosiah journeying towards the land of Zarahemla.

2 - Now these sons of Mosiah were with Alma at the time the angel first appeared unto him; therefore Alma did rejoice exceedingly to see his brethren; and what added more to his joy, they were still his brethren in the Lord; yea, and they had waxed strong in the knowledge of the truth; for they were men of a sound understanding and they had searched the scriptures diligently, that they might know the word of God.

Sister Cutler was my companion when we first started our journey as full time missionaries of the Lord. After almost 10 years (and 3 kids for her and 1 kid for me), we meet again at a church in Taiwan, still dedicated to living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I was truly overjoyed to see her yesterday!

I am continuously amazed at how much the mission continues to bring joy into my life. 18 months of meager service has brought about blessings that continue to flow in beyond the season of full time missionary work.

I am excited for the work you are doing right now in London; for the people you are serving; for the companions you will get to work with; for the spiritual experiences that will carry you through this life and beyond. What a sacred privilege it is to serve the Lord and to help build up His Kingdom here on this earth!

Keep up the great work that you are doing, Shuan!
You are such an example to me and to our family!

With love,

Su姐
